Fragile (Scary) Beauty Stained Glass

Winter is the best time to have stained-glass windows. When it's so bleak outside the colors are a welcome relief. That holds true even if the images in the glass are a bit horrific. Really. Sarah Segovia has been working with stained glass since 1994. She has perfected her technique and you can find her work at her Etsy shop Sevogia or on her website Fragile Beauty . Winged Skull Gargoyle Baphomet Frankenstein Pinhead Black Scrying Mirror There are many glass sculptures in the horror and gothic genres on Segovia's website . I'm sure there is something you'll adore there.

Spinello: Inspired by the Garden

Jamie Spinello works in metal to create jewelry that is inspired by what she sees in the garden. For us, that means we're going to see some of the gorgeous creatures that live there.  Spinello also draws and makes intricate sculptures which you can see on her website. Her art isn't spooky, but it does contain magic. You can purchase her work on her website or on Etsy . Bronze & Turquoise Spider Cuff Moth Necklace with Labradorite Bronze Snake Necklace Spider Web Cuff Spider Cuff Ring Stag Beetle with Turquoise Necklace Make sure you visit Spinello's website and take a look at her drawings and sculpture. They're quite beautiful. It's nice to think about the garden when we're about to get a New England style snow storm. Flutter Sculpture

Fantasy Leather- Not that kind

Everyone needs a little fantasy leather in their life. Oh, stop. The pieces from Lea Polyakov are in the gothic, horror, fantasy realm. Polyakov has made some costume pieces for the series "Salem" and her shop, Lea's Boutique , is full of creepy little accessories. Smoking Black Leather Clutch Evil Eye Cuff Goblin Face Pendant Leather Eye Patch Bat Charm Leather Eyeglass Case These are fun. I'd love to see a very proper little grannie pull out one of the eyeglasses cases. There are hundreds of items in Polyakov's shop. Take a look.

Drink Up

I have a feeling there will be many, many toasts to 2017 and quit a few "don't let the door hit you on the way out, 2016"s. You're going to need the appropriate drinking vessel for that and I'd like to suggest the mugs from potter Tom Pollok. His shop is Salt Kiln Creations . Winged Alien Perched Gargoyle Goblin Mug Skull Face Spider Dragon Winged Dragon Whiskey Jug These mugs must be filled with something strong. Don't even think of putting tea in there unless it also has some whiskey in it. Let's show the New Year we mean business this time.

Lolley: A Favorite

I have posted about Kathleen Lolley before, but I think it's time for a repost. I just love her style. Lolley's art is a little sad with a touch of innocence and an ending of hope. I know that's weird, but it's what I feel when I look at her art. Dandelion Wishes Flower Sorcery A Spell to See Beauty in Life Fortune Tea Towels Blessed Thistle Wild Flowers Lolley's has a shop on Etsy . I hope some of her art finds a way into your home.

Jewelry for the New Year

If you're feeling the need to start the new year with a few talismans than the jewelry from Adelina Mictlan may be just what you're looking for. Mictlan's pieces are imbued with magic and not the Tinker Bell kind. Her collection of necklaces and rings are sure to ward off any evil spells headed your way. I also like the coaster collection. I think they could stop anyone from poisoning your drink. Sterling Hand of Glory Necklace Forewarning Eye Ring Maiden, Mother and Thee Crone Isabel's Curse Bat Ring Rat Ring Coaster Set I'm going to be collecting some talismans, myself. After this year, I want to go into the next well protected.

Halloween Pottery

Let's go ahead and admit we're shopping for ourselves now. It's too late to order anything for Christmas so, let's just sit back and make sure we have a New Year's gift for ourselves. Ok? I found some spooky ceramic pieces from Ceraminic that could be part of your everyday decor. The designs are uncluttered and simple. You might even call them fresh and wholesome. Sugar Skull Plate Black Cat Ornament Haunted House Plate Black Cat and Girl Halloween Plate Witch's Shoe Black Cat Plate These are hand-made in the Netherlands. If you're looking for some beautiful Christmas ornaments (for next year of course) you should stop by the shop.

Knitting for Halloween

I can knit a straight scarf- one color. That's about it. I'm ashamed to say I've never been able to follow a knitting pattern. That means if I want to attempt to knit any of the adorable Halloween figures designed by Tatyana Korobkova I had better start now to insure it gets finished by October. Korobkova provides knitting patterns for all kinds of stuffed dolls. Her shop is called Denizas Toy Joys . Jolly  Skeleton Halloween Ghost Skeleton Black Cat Pumpkins Waldorf Witches If you really wouldn't think of attempting to make one of these, then you should browse Korobkova's second shop of finished dolls . There aren't many Halloween items at the moment, but I'm sure you could request one. These make great winter projects. Just think how happy you'll be in October when you have some cute figures to give out as gifts.

Purgatory Plaything's Jewelry

The figure made from a coyote skull, chicken bones, and a vintage doll caught my eye. How could it not? Alas, there was just one art doll. Fortunately, the jewelry kept me interested. Jeweler Kaitland Axelrood has a shop called Purgatory Plaything and it offers adornments made from humanely sourced bones. It's not for everyone, but if you like that sort of thing, you'll want one of these pieces. A dark sense of humor is definitely required. The Corpse Bride The Royal Taxidermy Earrings Rat Skull Vial Rosary Diamond Cavity Tooth Fairy Wing Necklace Porcupine Quills and Crystal Necklace  Gothic Squirrel Paw Tooth Fairy's Molars Necklace Can you imagine your child waking up in the middle of the night when you're trying to sneak their tooth from beneath their pillow and they see you wearing a molar necklace?! Fantastic. Your children should be a little frightened of you.
