Frida Kahlo: Mexican Darling

Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo, died on July 13, 1954. Kahlo wasn't recognized as a significant painter till well after her death, but people have certainly made up for that in the last few years. There is now a cult-of-Kahlo that exists and you will often see her recognizable image (heavy eyebrows) portrayed in Day of the Dead artworks. If you haven't seen the movie Frida- watch it. Kahlo was a tortured, passionate woman who created brightly colored paintings that echoed her fervor.

In celebration of Kahlo, I thought I'd show a few of the lovely works other artists have created in admiration of her.
