My Spooky Agenda August 25 - September 1

It's as if the Halloween world is holding its breath this week. August is always a little quiet because everyone is planning and prepping for September and the grand finale of October. That doesn't mean there isn't anything to celebrate, just a little less than usual. This is a good time to start watching some dark movies. You know you always say you don't have enough time in October to watch everything you'd like.

If you haven't ever watched the dark comedy Harold and Maude, I highly recommend it. It's as sweet as it is dark and it will stay with you long after the 90 minute film is over. Of course, Ruth Gordon is also spectacular in Rosemary's Baby as the friendly, caring, totally creepy neighbor.

Throw in an episode of Scooby-Doo to cleanse your palette and then explore a movie from director Wes Craven. That should keep you busy this week!

Thursday the 26th

  • (2020) Joe Ruby Death Anniversary (Co-creator of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?)

Saturday the 28th

  • (1985) Ruth Gordon Death Anniversary (Minnie Castevet in Rosemary's Baby & Maude in Harold and Maude)

Monday the 30th

  • (2015) Wes Craven Death Anniversary (Horror Film Director, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, and so many others )

  1. Excellent reminder to squeeze in some spooky season viewing now when things are often a touch slower. Far beyond the awesomeness of Halloween/Samhain, October is frequently the busiest month of the year for us (even more so, some years, than December) due to various things like multiple family birthdays, Canadian Thanksgiving, and our wedding anniversary, so I like to ramp up (let's face it, it's a year round thing for me :D) my Halloween viewing in August and September as well.

Happy Halloween moving watching, my friend!
