Ceramics for the Macabre

The skull teapots from Pottery by Vanessa C caught my eye right away. They're awesome and the tea cups and jars are great too! These are the kind of pieces you highlight at Halloween, but use all year long. Retro Hip Halloween!

I first looked at Kitschy Witch Designs back in 2018 and since then the shop has expanded to include clothing and even eyewear! It's more fabulous than ever, and I would bookmark this shop if I were you because I expect there will be an update in time for Halloween. Artist and shop owner, Stephanie Buscema is so creative. Halloween Wrapping Paper!

I don't know about you, but I like to give gifts at Halloween. No one is expecting it and there is no need for reciprocity. If you do that too, you'll love the spooky wrapping papers from Skelly Paper Co . They're just the right touch to take your gift to another level.  Pastel Mugkins Wrapping Paper Flor de Muerto Wrapping Paper Samhain Stars Wrapping Paper The Troublemakers Wrapping Paper Halloween's Finest Wrapping Paper Skelly Sticker Sheets Aren't these fun?! My Spooky Agenda August 25 - September 1

It's as if the Halloween world is holding its breath this week. August is always a little quiet because everyone is planning and prepping for September and the grand finale of October. That doesn't mean there isn't anything to celebrate, just a little less than usual. This is a good time to start watching some dark movies. You know you always say you don't have enough time in October to watch everything you'd like.  If you haven't ever watched the dark comedy Harold and Maude , I highly recommend it. It's as sweet as it is dark and it will stay with you long after the 90 minute film is over. Of course, Ruth Gordon is also spectacular in Rosemary's Baby as the friendly, caring, totally creepy neighbor.  Throw in an episode of Scooby-Doo to cleanse your palette and then explore a movie from director Wes Craven. That should keep you busy this week! Thursday the 26th (2020) Joe Ruby Death Anniversary (Co-creator of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?) Saturday th...

Mr. Bony's Nurse Shop Update!

I'm a big fan of the paper mâché and clay Halloween art from Mr. Bony's Nurse . I've featured the artist's work (she remains anonymous no matter how hard I look!) in the past and I've noticed a recent shop update with lots of new figures. Best part is that so many of them are either nodders or wind-ups! You can see short videos of them on Etsy. I really like the direction this artist is taking, an I thought I'd share them with you. Halloween Florals Arrangements

Well, it started. I'm getting that Halloween anxiety of being behind schedule. Fortunately, I had some time yesterday afternoon (during our very non-hurricane, just a rainy day Sunday) to do at least a little planning. One thing is becoming very clear- it will have to be an outdoor party this year. I'm still not comfortable having a large group of people in our house. Hmph.  With that in mind, I want our house interior to be a little special for Halloween season. Sure there are Halloween decorations everywhere in our house all the time, but it's the little details that count. I'm thinking it would be nice to have a spooky, elegant, centerpiece for our dining table. I'm not a huge fan of fake plastic flowers, but have been known to make exceptions. I also found some interesting paper flowers. Here are some pieces I'm considering (unless you buy them first..) It's All About Witches for the Next 7 Days

This week there are a lot of events around witch trials. August seems to be a month when accusations, trials, and hangings are rampant. Maybe that's why I've never been a fan of August?  I rarely mention murders in My Spooky Agenda because they are not things to celebrate. I'm always afraid it will glorify violence- which I abhor, but in the case of witch trials I do note them because I think it's important to remember the falsely accused and how easy it is to believe lies, rumors, and false leaders. I also want to note that I separate the term witches into two categories: caricatures of Halloween witches and those that practice Wicca or a similar spiritual belief. Those accused of witchcraft were neither. Now that that's clear let's move on! Vaccine ID Card Holders for Halloween Lovers

I've been a little slow to get any new face masks or even purchase a holder for my vaccine card. I was hoping that the COVID virus was on the decline, but it looks like we'll be in this mess until most everyone is vaccinated - and there are more simple-minded folks out there than even I had imagined.  Don't get me started. If you're not vaccinated yet, please do it. I want to be able to enjoy Halloween this year. However, I always tell myself to make the best of the situation I'm in and so, I found some really fun vaccine ID cards holders that I want to share with you. I haven't decided which one I'm buying yet, but I'll be displaying my card with pride.
