In Praise of Monsters

Last Monday I posted an interview with Monsterologist Sluaghan N. Tomlinson and the upcoming Monster Arts Project in Western Massachusetts. This show opens on Saturday and I want to introduce you to a few of the artists who will be exhibiting their work.

Emma Gluckman has created a digital tarot deck she calls the Tinycog Tarot Collection. You can purchase images from the deck at Society6.

The Wheel

Sophie Argetsinger is an illustrator who "particularly likes drawing monsters and other 'undesirable' creatures in an accessible and relatable way."
Were-Monster Print

Adam Connor calls himself a compulsive doodler and "often combines things that don't seem to go together -sad monsters with cake, robots giving dragons presents"- you get the idea. You can purchase his work at Little Green Toaster on big cartel.
Monster #4

ARTmuffin is an artist who describes his work as "weird illustration. You can purchase prints and t-shirts from his site.
Super Zombie vs. The MegaNothing

Jeff Grader finds inspiration in the woods, furry animals, zombies, and the contrasts that surround us all." His site is called Warped Whimsy and I smitten by his Love Letters from monsters series of cards.
Bogeyman Card

Susan Huszar is a sculptor who uses animal bones and other natural materials to "tell stories of things that scared and comforted my in my childhood."
Bee Prepared

These are only a fraction of the artists (22 in all) that will be participating in the Monster Arts Project show in Easthampton, MA. The exhibit will run from October 14 - November 5. Join me at the opening this Saturday! I'm hoping to find something fabulous to add to my collection.
