Halloween Pencil Drawings

I'm giddy with delight at having found the art of Joanna Viheria. Her Halloween-inspired pencil drawings are amazing! There is enough eeriness in these images to keep you shivering till Halloween is actually here. Viheria carries some prints and postcards, but the majority of her offerings are originals.

Glicée Print, Girl in Forest
Glicée Print, Ghost Bride

I'm in love with Viheria's work! I think I found another artist to collect.

Miniature Haunted Room Challenge: Inspiration

As promised, I'm dedicating Fridays until October for the Miniature Haunted Room Challenge. I want to show you some miniature rooms I found on Pinterest that I hope will inspire you to create your own. Unfortunately, the photos on Pinterest aren't always attributed to anyone or place- which I hate. If you're posting to Pinterest, you should always give the original source information. Duh.

Anyway, take a look at these miniature rooms and start dreaming about what you want to create. Especially note what the room boxes look like. This is where you can get very creative.

All of these images and more are pinned to my board called Haunted Dollhouse. I tuck away ideas there and you're welcome to follow my search.

Rustic Metal Skulls For Your Walls

In our house I mix up the art on our walls.  Expensive paintings hang next to cheap prints. If I love it, I hang it. I also like to mix in rustic or primitive pieces like metal art. You might say we have a fairly large number of metal skulls in our house when compared to the average household. Who wants to be average?

Keith Hahn has some metal skulls I have my eye on right now. His shop is Rocking K Creations.

Day of the Dead Sculpted Mask Wall Art
Hand Forged Bottle Opener
Metal Skull Spinner
Skull Mask Wall Art
Metal Skull in Sun Wall Art
Metal Skull Ornaments
Make your house above average with some metal skull art.

Horror Brick Sets

You've probably seen the LEGO brick cremation set that's been floating around social media lately (Google it if you haven't.) It's pretty awesome. Did you know that there are shops where you can purchase your own spooky brick scene? O.k., they don't have the cremation set, but they do have some great horror movie and Halloween themed sets. Take a look at what The Blocking Dead has to offer.

Creepy Crypt and Zombie
Haunted Halloween Forest
Small Halloween Set
The Grim Reaper
Large Graveyard Set
Horror Slasher Movie Set
Flaming Zombies Set
These make me squeal with joy! I'm even starting to think that my Haunted Miniature Room Challenge could be made entirely from bricks. Oh, the possibilities.

Spooky Bookmarks for Your Spooky Books

I read a lot of horror/ghost/witch themed books right before bed. Sometimes that gives me crazy dreams and my husband has to wake me up from yelling in my sleep. Well, maybe more like yelping in my sleep. When recounted back to him, the dreams are actually pretty funny. The yelping is usually me scolding some demon to get back where they belong.  But I digress.

If you read a lot of books, you know how important your bookmark is. It has to stay firmly in place and be large enough that it isn't easily lost in the sheets. It should also say something and have some flair. I've definitely used cash register receipts before and it's just not as satisfying as a leather skull for instance. I think these bookmarks from Cool Bookmarks are just the right touch. I love how these wrap around the edge of the book.

Ghost Bookmark
Metal Coffin Bookmark
Happy Reading Skeleton Bookmark
Skull Book Divider
Devil's Trident Bookmark
Witch Bookmark
One of these bookmarks with a gift card to a bookstore would make a great graduation gift for someone. There are nearly 200 bookmarks in this shop. Check them out!

Dark Art from the Ukraine

My collection of dark art and Halloween art comes from all over the world, but I find I have a particular love of item coming from Eastern Europe. The pieces tend to be a little darker and a little less whimspookal. This is the case with Murmures, a shop from two artists in Vinnytsia, Ukraine.

Textile Moth Sculpture
Zombie Box
Mystic Spirit Doll
Creepy Pumpkin Doll
Sad Moonchild Doll
Teeth Brooch
These pieces send delicious chills up my back!

Haunted Doll House Inspiration

A few weeks ago I mentioned a challenge to myself (and you) about creating a miniature haunted room by October. I love haunted doll houses and since I've come to realize creating an entire house is a bigger project than I have time for right now, I've settled on creating a Halloween inspired miniature room.

I'll be posting some examples to get you inspired and updates on my progress every Friday up till October (at least that's my plan) and then I'll share my finished haunted room along with photos of your rooms during the month of October. Fun, right?!

Today, I have to share with you a cardboard, eerie, miniature house that contains a mystery for you to solve. Originally you purchased this game and it was sent to you in installments, but now you can buy the entire package in one swoop. It's called The Case of the Haunted Dollhouse: A Mystery in Your Mailbox and it's from Lady Delaney.

There is a warning of sorts with this game:
"With its reference to violence, insanity, and the supernatural, The Haunted Dollhouse may be wonderfully suited as gift for your strange children, enemies, and peculiar friends."

Here is a peek at what you can expect.

I'm offering this as an example that your haunted miniature room can be made entirely of paper if that suits you. Get creative with it! I'm also showing you this because I want it!!! It's more than I would spend on a game, but it is so intriguing.  If you're interested in having it mailed in installments, you'll find it and other wonderfully spooky games at www.lettersfromdeadpeople. Make sure you wander around this site for more inspiration.
