You're starting to think about your Halloween costume by now if you're like me. If you want to be the beast of the ball you can't wait till the last minute. Every detail has to be perfect. But sometimes, a simple costume can be very scary too. Have you ever looked at vintage photos of people dressed for Halloween? Their simple masks of burlap are unnerving! I think it's because there is no recognizable feature visible. You might think you know who is behind the mask, but do you really?
I found an artist in Homer, Alaska who is creating some simply creepy masks. She uses burlap, cloth, and shells and they look primitive. Some of her designs are based on vintage Mardi Gras masks and even though their not meant to be creepy- they still are. Her shop is called
Crooked Crow.
Truth be told I've already purchased two of Crooked Crow's masks and they're wonderful. They're also very, very reasonably priced. Don't delay on this purchase. This is a mask you can hang on the wall.
