Quilling is one of the paper arts that I admire. The concept is so simple: take strips of paper, roll them up, and then paste them into place, but it becomes an art when it is done with practiced skill, an eye for color, and a creative vision. Armida Ortega (White Rock, BC) is a quilling artist who understands the beauty of sugar skulls. Her shop is It Is Only Paper and her pieces are absolutely charming.
I feel lighter and happier just looking at Ortega's work.
