Frozen Charlotte at Halloween: Lorelie Kay Designs

I knew that the naked, little, china bisque dolls were called Frozen Charlottes, but I didn't know why till I looked it up on Wikipedia. The dolls were made from about 1850 to 1920 and got their name from an old song called "Fair Charlotte" that was based on a poem called "A Corpse Going to a Ball" about a young girl who refused to dress warmly because she didn't want to spoil her dress as she left in the snow to go a ball. Long story short, she died.

That brings me to Lorelie. She is creating fascinating works of art from found objects- Frozen Charlottes, among other things - that harken back to the Victorian period. Her Halloween pieces are divine. The shop is Lorelie Kay Designs.
