Refresh Your Spring Wardrobe

The weather is finally starting to feel like Spring here in New England and this past weekend I pulled out my warm weather clothes and realized I needed to add a few pieces. It's sort of a signature style of mine to wear skull clothing throughout the year and so right now I'm looking at Vintage Galeria (Los Angelas, CA.)

Janet Zuniga owns the vintage-inspired, Mexican Day of the Dead themed, clothing boutique, and you'll find clothing for women, men and children here as well as accessories. Zuniga's pieces are bright and colorful and will remind you that Summer is on it's way.

Unusual Jewelry for Unusual People

The pieces from Beloved Little Lamb are unusual, but in a quiet way. They don't scream "I AM WEIRD! LOOK AT ME!" They're subtle and murmur "I have you under my spell."  I like that. There are times when I want to shock and draw comments with my accessories, but mostly I just want to wear jewelry that speaks to me and I'd rather the world wasn't listening in. You know what I mean? The artist is Judith Hoetkers and she started out as a painter before realizing that she is a jeweler. That's fortunate for all of us. Little Sparrow Earrings with Ruby Teardrops Black Thorn Earrings Medusa Brooch Tiny Fly Ring Two-Headed Snake Bracelet Pheasant Foot Brooch Twisted Black Thorn Ring with Diamond These pieces are gorgeous. I have several on my "need" list. The pieces I've shown you are from Hoetkers's Etsy shop, but she has her own website you should visit at belovedlittlelamb.com .

Gentleman Crow

This year I'm doing something different with the outside of our house for Halloween. After seeing a friend's photo of turkey vultures sitting on a fence, I decided this year our front porch would be a haven for ravens and crows. For the last few weekends my husband and I have been working on creating a door greeter. I call him the Gentleman Crow. He was easy-peasy to create. First we did a little research online on how to make the body form. We found lots of photos of pvc pipe body forms and my talented husband went to work on creating it. Although he didn't use the words easy-peasy, there was no swearing or cursing involved so I think it was pretty simple. Word of advice- don't glue anything together. You'll need to be able to take it apart to dress the form. The next step was shopping for a crow mask (there are many on the web to choose from) and clothes from thrift stores. I was very fortunate to have inherited my father's coattails and top hat that...

Halloween Art Guide for Spellbound Collectors!

On the day that marks 100 days till Halloween, I am so excited to share with you a side project that I've been working on for 18 months with Kristen Stafford of Halloween Art & Travel podcast. I present to you our new website for Halloween art collectors. If you've been following my blog for a few years, you probably noticed I've posted less. Previously I had relied a great deal on Etsy to manage my favorite Halloween artist shops, but then Etsy turned corporate bullshit and all my favorite artists started leaving and scattered with the wind. I started wishing there was a place I could visit to find where all those artists moved to. It also occurred to me that we are in an amazing period of time when Halloween art is flourishing and really, shouldn't someone be capturing that? I made the decision that it should be me! I knew it was a project too big to tackle on my own and so I immediately reached out to Kristen. We share so much in common and have complimentary ski...
