Party Favors

I love creating party favors to give to our guests at the end of the Halloween party. I think it's nice to be able to leave with a spooky souvenir. They don't have to cost a great deal. I can usually keep them under a couple of dollars if I make them myself. I match favors with the theme of the party and a few have come out better than expected- if I may say so myself.

One of my absolute favorites is the Diminutive Demon Defense Kit. I wrote a post about it last year that you can read HERE. I hung them from a tree for guests to take as they were leaving the party (along with a bottle of water- probably the most necessary parting gift). The tiny kit contained everything you might need to fight off threatening demons.

For a Day of the Dead party I purchased milagros, Mexican charms for good luck, and attached them to a card. The charm on this card is a spleen or maybe a kidney? Don't ask.

One year I burned CDs with some of my favorite spooky Halloween music, because everyone should have holiday music to listen to. This was the label on the CD.

For a Tim Burton themed party I had shot glasses made for a Voodoo Girl Bar & Lounge with Tim Burton's pinned heart for a logo.

I've also given away tiny nip bottles of Dandelion Wine that I had made the previous Spring. I made the Dandelion Wine from my grandmother's recipe to prove my husband wrong when he would insist that everyone says they know someone who has made Dandelion Wine, but no one has ever actually tasted any. It was horrible by the way, although relatives said that was how they remembered it. My skills are not in brewing.

Because our parties tend to lead to hang-overs the next day, I made little sacks of hang-over helpers for the Dark & Twisted Fairy Tale party that contained things like aspirin and AlkaSeltzer. If you're wondering about the Purgajori name, that's what my husband named me because he said living with me wasn't always heaven, but it's not hell either. What a card.

So, you're probably wondering what this year's party favor will be? Well, I'm still working on it, but since we re-creating a Edgar Allen Poe's Wake, I'm going to be making memorial ribbons for people to wear on their costume. I don't have anything to show you yet, but you'll see the final product when I post pictures after the party. I guess you'll just have to stay tuned.

  1. Hey, these are just so lovely party favors. I am totally impressed to see these wonderful photos here. Even I am interested in hosting a party for my parent’s anniversary at a local event venue in LA so will surely make use of one of these ideas for the favors.

    1. Thank you! I think I like coming up with the party favors more than I like the actual party. LOL
